MARYAM HASHEMI Iranian contemporary artist based in the UK, has a unique collection of painting reflecting themes of exodus, womanhood, house, belonging and belonging to different spaces.
Her paintings are almost offerings to mother earth were women seem to recollect the memories from home- kitchen-clothes-live and love to restablish or better yet to search for an understanding and explore a sense of belonging once abroaad.
Coming from a harsh reality as a Iranian Maryam makes you feel safe trough her paintings they offer warth and love with out deniying the exile, exodus, women opression and overcoming lonliness that is the greatest pride of her colurfull and playfull art,,, SHE IS AN AMAIZING ARTIS DO VOTE FOR HER:

MARYAM HASHEMI- BIO
Maryam Hashemi is an Iranian artist living in London .She was born in Birmingham , UK and was raised in Tehran ,Iran .After graduating in Graphic Design from Azaad University in Tehran , she moved to UK on 2002 and has been active as a painter and performer since 2004. Maryam has been involved in many art projects and has been exhibiting internationally . In 2001 after her first solo exhibition in “ Haft Samar “ gallery in Tehran , she was selected for the “ Ten Iranian Female painters “ exhibition in Brussels showing her works along with other Iranian women painters ,being youngest of them all.
She had her first solo exhibition in UK in 2004 and was invited for an exhibition in the annual Chicago Artist month in 2006 and Edinburgh Iranian Festival in 2008 ,also been invited by Watermans Arts Centre and Broadway Theatre to exhibit this year .
She had also exhibited at London Canal Museum , British Library and various festivals .
Maryam has been involved with many public art and community projects and had been commissioned by organizations such as National Trust , Camden council and British Library for various projects.
In her recent works she is focusing on her personal journey after arriving in UK.
Each canvas is a self-portrait revealing a part of this journey and its challenges and different phases.
She usually works from her subconscious, from which emerge layers and layers of mystery.
This is the first time that she is confronting her journey and her challenges, honestly and fearlessly.
Her main inspiration is her own life and experiences and influence of family and friends and relationships is always visible .The colours are vibrant and alive and sense of humor is usually present .
